Movie director Sir Alan Parker dies at 76

British movies director Sir Alan Parker has died aged 76. He died today, Friday -31st, after a lengthy illness.

The double Oscar nominee’s  is credited for movies like; Fame, Evita, Bugsy Malone, Midnight Express, Mississippi Burning, The Commitments, Angela’s Ashes , Birdy and the  life of David Gale that was made in 2003..

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences remembers him as an extraordinary talent whose work entertained, connected and gave such a strong sense of time and place.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Moran-Parker, five children and seven grandchildren.
