The Police in Masindi district are investigating circumstances under which a 16-year-old boy drowned while swimming in the dam.
Mr. Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Nelson Byaruhanga, a resident of Kyatwenge Village in Pakanyi sub county Masindi district.

He explains that Nelson had gone swimming with his colleagues on Monday when he unfortunately got stuck in deep water and he couldn’t swim thus drowning.
He revealed that the lifeless body of Byaruhanga was retrieved today morning (Wednesday) by police.
Julius further advised parents to avoid sending their children for swimming citing the many drowning cases arising in the region.
Innocent Ssembuga Innocent, one of the sources confirms that they found the deceased swimming in the dam when they went to wash their clothes.
He explains qthat Byaruhanga requested soap from them to wash his clothes then after he went back in the water and started diving and eventually disappeared which prompted them to inform other people.
Mr. Godfrey Businge the guardian to the deceased said he was in the garden when the information reached him and decided to inform the area chairperson who informed the police about the incident.
