Kampala Lordmayor Erias Lukwago has on Thursday morning officiated the blood donation drive at Nakasero market. Vendors working in Nakasero market gathered to donate blood responding to Buganda King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s call to his subjects to donate blood in order to save hundreds of ugandans who die due to lack of Blood in hospitals.
Lukwago was the chief donor at the blood donation camp that was organised by Kabaka Foundation in partrnership with Uganda Red cross society and Uganda Blood transfusion.
The Lordmayor joined his voice to that of King Muwenda of calling his People especially those in Kampala to embrace this drive to save ugandans since schools which were the major donors are currently closed due to Covid19 pandemic.
According to the blood bank, there is shortage of blood and this increases to life threatening situations in case emergencies occurs.
One park of blood donated saves lives up to three people.
