A few days ago, Airtel Uganda one of the telecom companies released a statement indicating that they are to scrap off the “Tugabane” feature that had been allowing users benefit and use someone else’s purchased data bundle on some of their mobile internet features effective of today, 21st, July 2021.
“Kindly be informed that effective Wednesday 21st July 2021, the Tugabane service will no longer be available on Freaky Friday, Freaky Holiday and Daily Data bundles,” read part of the statement.
“Please note that you can gift Freaky Friday, Freaky Holiday and Daily Bundles by dialling *175 #, choose preferred bundle and select “buy for another”, Airtel stated.
It literally implied that Tugabane is only left to those on weekly and monthly bundles and that someone who has been sharing their daily bundle with family or friends will now have to buy them their own bundles.
However, the new normal has not been positively welcomed by Airtel customers and they are expressing their hard feelings known to the telecom giant via twitter.

“Some pipo were talking to us because of our tugabane……so now @Airtel we are going to loose friends just like that!”
