The new Sultan of Bamoun, Cameroon, His Royal Highness Nabil Mbombo Njoya, has refused to marry a 14 year old girl because she is a minor who according to him, needs to in school chasing her career.
He instead offered to sponsor the girls’ education until she finishes her university level.
Sultan Nabil was supposed to marry the minor as it is tradition known as ‘Lah-Kam,’ where the new Sultan’s wife must come from Njim Monchouh line.
After turning down the marriage offer to a minor, he showed interest in marrying his longtime girlfriend with whom he has known for over five years who also happens to be a daughter of a well-known business man in Bamoun.
