Court on Friday 1, August remanded Next Media presenters Kayz Kawalya, Brian Wako and Williams Mako for defamation.

The trio was arrested after being reported by Emmanuel Ssuuna aka Omulangira Ssuuna for speaking ill about him while they are presenting on their Morning Express television show that airs daily on Sanyuka Television.
The presenters’ arrest has created a rigft in the entertainment industry as Musicians who were expected to side with Ssuuna are siding with the media. This taking of sides has left those supporting Ssuuna wondering the kind of industry they all live in.
On Saturday morning, NBS TV’s Douglas Lwanga called for reconciliation among the media and the artists. He admitted that the presenters’ are in wrong but, like everyone else, they deserve a second chance.
“Mistakes are human, forgiving is Godly. Artists and Media personalities do need each other. Can we burry this behind us, forgive each other and move on. Jaily only worsens the already sour relationship. Lets reconcile and amend this. Fire never puts out fire.” Douglas said.
It should be noted that before the presenters were arrested, OS Ssuuna warned them and tasked them to apologise but his warnings fell on deaf ears.
Kayz was even told off by musicain Bruno K but he kept on proudly asking Bruno who Ssuuna was. According to Kayz, Ssuuna never existed among the people he knew.
Musician Naira Ali noted that Ssuuna had set a precedent. It came to light that defamation of artists is suable in the Ugandan courts of law.
She also made an observation that artists are never in support of fellow artists in trying times, “Artists do you realise that every media house is behind their friends whether they’re right or wrong? When do we all ever get behind our fellow artistes when they’re in trouble? What do we learn from this? She asked.
Singer and song writer Nince Henry played it neutral as his say could not be easily directed to any of the parties. “They tell you that they’re with you but the reality is they’re with their families and you’re alone with your problems.”
Kella McKenzie, a reknown media personality and MC called for artistes to stand in soliderity because Journalists are protected by their bosses and media houses.
Eddy Kenzo known for being controversial when it comes to taking sides just shared a verse from one of his songs Tweyagale. “Nze eno ensi tenemazaamu” he said.
Singer and Nation Media’s MC, Crystal Panda pretended not to know about the misunderstanding between Ssuuna and the presenters. He ran a hashtag asking for their release regardless of the crime they committed.
“I don’t know the story behind these guys being arrested but as a human being I feel y’all should’ve sat on a round table and sort things out as humans in a calmly manner coz we all do mistakes but not imprisoning these guys Bambi,” He said.
Commedian Patrick Salvador who seemed to be following keenly asked him to follow the story first before presenting a solution.
“you don’t know the story yet you have an opinion .. Olusi let’s just watch and let things play out.” Salvador said.
Fashionista Abryanz too asked Panda to first understand the situation before asking for the trio’s release.
“Lol how abt if u also don’t comment on things u don’t understand. Leka naawe,” He said.
Panda, who seemed to chocked with Abryanz comment asked him to use his eyes, head and brain before minding the matter.
“You gat 2 eyes on a head with brains in the medulla oblongata but you can’t see en get my point here yet you can read wow, maybe you would yearn en click very fast if I posted “ I am single and searching “ if you know you know by the way prison ain’t a joke wait when you go there ojaaakutyaaa,a fine of money could’ve sorted things out to me coz media en artists like twins.” Panda replied.
