Mingled aka omugoyo, is the marriage between sweet potatoes and Beans. The mixture is made possible with a mingling stick.

This food used to be very common in Central Uganda and some parts of Northern Uganda.
However, ever since we started embracing fast foods, local foods like omugoyo which require some good hours in preparation have been set aside.
Today, most of the people knowledgeable about the art of making Omugoyo are the elderly as only a few of the young people can take on the task. Wondering how this food is prepared, Ugabuzz has got your back!
Put dry beans in cool clean water in a saucepan and heat the beans until they become soft. Dry beans a better because they bring out the best color of the soup that will cook the sweet potatoes.
While the beans are getting heated, peel the sweet potatoes, wash the food and cut it in small portions that will cook easily.
After beans are ready, add salt and small portions of the potatoes, heat again using the soup from the beans. Heat until the sweet potatoes are ready.
After the food is ready, pour out all the water from the saucepan and leave only the mixture of the sweet potatoes with beans.

With the help of a clean mingling stick, start mingling the potatoes with the beans until each gets dissolved in the other.

You can have it there and then or Cover the mixture in banana leaves and heat it again this time to make it a little bit hard. This also helps to remove all the remaining water in the food if at all a mingled a watery mugoyo.

It tastes good with ovakado and tea.
