The city Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has slammed the Electoral Commission of the Uganda Musicians Association(UMA) move to organize digital elections.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) member thinks that it is not yet time for Ugandans to think about digitalized polls since the level of technology in the country is still at baby-step. He compared the general country’s ability to organize online polls to that of UMA’s.
“If the government itself has not yet reached the level of organizing online elections, what about UMA. Many people in Uganda do not know how to operate smartphones. How sure are you that there are not ghost voters in the system?” He questioned.
The lawyer is on King Saha’s legal team and has challenged the commission’s ability to organize elections online. He advised the commission to add more time and put up physical elections that will be satisfactory to each candidate.
“The polling date is so near. The commission should just add in more time so that it can also sort itself out and organize transparent polls. If it doesn’t do so, it may attract chaos.” He advised.
