Gerald Asera a Journalist with Kings Broadcasting Services (93.6 kings FM) in Masindi was last night shot dead by a private security guard.
According to police reports, Aseera who was a news anchor at Kings FM was killed by the security guard at a Soda Depot in Masindi town in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at around 12am.
The deceased’s colleague whose identify can not be revealed that the guard suspected the deceased of being a thief so he shot at him.
“He was just moving in town and the guard suspected him of being a thief. He shot him in the chest,’’ said the colleague.
He adds that the victim was immediately rushed to Masindi General Hospital for medical attention where he unfortunately died moments after reaching.
The Police in Masindi is yet to issue a statement on the deceased’s shooting but said investigations had been opened to establish the cause of the shooting.
