Mbale Central market vendors, who work within and around the market premises have shown concern of the rubbish which is collected around and inside the market and then disposed in front of their businesses.
They say this has made there lives and businesses miserable to an extent of having less or no customers .
Devi’s masaba, a bodaboda rider, who bases on Amber street Central market stage says the collected garbage some times fills up past the capacity and it takes more than four days before it gets removed by the collectors who normally use tractors.
He adds that when the situation worsens, and there is too much smell due to the decomposition of the garbage ,they ,as boda boda riders set up demonstrations and spread the garbage all over the area to show the Central Market administration their dissatisfaction .
Rehema Nagwaka, a charcoal seller reveals that despite the fact that she sells her charcoal out side the market premises, the smell from the garbage chases away her customers and sometimes she loses her appetite for food.
She therefore asks the administration to remove the garbage as soon as possible before she and other vendors’ businesses get totally dismantled.
