Kampala. Recently, 44 people mostly men dressed as women with hair wigs and makeup were arrested from a traditional marriage ceremony in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district near Kampala.

In a short statement, Charles Twine, the spokesperson of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), says that the suspects were picked from a “wedding party of a gay couple.”
A source indicated to us that before the arrest, the mc a one Brenda Nansove had attempted to call for the change in venue following a tip off that security would foil the ceremony.
However, the venue had already been sealed off by personnel in none security uniforms who asked all the revelers not to move.
With several reportedly fled to safety, 38 males and 6 females suspects were arrested including Brenda who was reportedly beaten for resisting arrest.
Luke Oweyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson, says the suspects who are locked up at Nansana police station have been charged with doing a negligent act likely to spread an infectious disease because they did not follow SOPS.”
“We have preferred to charge them using the public health act, since they were not following the ministry of Health guidelines,” he said in a text.
Brenda who is rumored to be the ring leader, is understood to be a known city nurse who is known for rehabilitating LGBT persons . A source noted that Brenda was wanted by police following another LGBT scandal that involved city business man Abubaker Kaluma.
The couple and Brenda were separated and taken to unknown location and they might be looking at a life imprisonment according to the recently amended LGBT law.
