Following the 2021 general elections, many supporters who allegedly violated Uganda’s Electoral Commission guidelines, as well as legal proceedings, were attested.

According to reports, supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) are among them. However, according to NUP principal Robert Kyagulanyo Ssentamu, many people have been tortured and rotting in jails, or released when in severe conditions like the party supporter Maseraka Samuel, while others rights have been violated.
Some NUP supporters propose to meet President Museveni to discuss some issues, while others completely disagree, implying that they cannot beg him to stop the bad acts that he commits.
On monday, Abed Bwanika, a former presidential candidate and Kimanya-Kabonera constituency Member of Parliament, proposed that the National Unity Platform- NUP, to which he belongs, seek an audience with President Yoweri Museveni to find a solution for political prisoners.
“I need freedom for the innocently incar suggestion supporters and the other opposition supporters caused by the NRM government,” he said.
He added, “Anyone with a better idea or solution from mine should bring it up to see that we save the innocent Ugandans. I can no longer be quiet.”
Many NUP leaders declined to his suggestion saying that they can’t go into talks with the ‘dictator’.
However, Abed said that he will write and explained to the NUP leaders that his proposal matters.
