Former president of the National Unity Platform(NUP) Nkonge Kibalama is reportedly back to claim his spot in the party.

During the party’s delegates conference, held on Friday morning at Jevine Hotel in Lubaga division, the party is said to have considered making him the president again after the delegates decided that the president Robert Kyagulanyi be made Party’s Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
According to the party’s close sources, Mr. David Lewis Rubongoya was replaced by Mr. Simbwa Kagombe as the Secretary-General of the Party and Tugume became the Secretary for information/ Spokesperson replacing Nakawa West MP Joel Ssenyonyi.
Kibalama’s term extends up to 2024 as the party’s constitution instructs. The new administration accuses Kyagulanyi’s side of poor leading the party. According to them, the constitution says a leader is supposed to have a term of two years but they have never elected another.
Kibalama’s team claims this was a breach of a Memorandum of Understanding by Mr. Kyagulanyi between him and the National Unity Reconciliation and Development Party(NURP)
We have however not yet heard from Kyagulanyi’s side and when we do, we shall update you.
