Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was last night badly assaulted by NRM Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo during a live NBS TV Frontline program.
The two together with other panelists were discussing whether bi-elections can be peaceful and also if Edmund really deserved the victory. The topic was derived from the events that took place during the Soroti City East parliamentary bi-elections where NRM candidate Edmund Ariko was declared winner.
After the attack, Lukwago stayed indoors at the NBS media house offices, while Opondo continues to threaten further attack on him.
Lukwago and other politicians like Dr. Kizza Besigye later declared the media house unsafe because it can’t swcure their guests.
“Short of words to explain what has happened to me at the NBS TV Frontline. Horrible, despicable!!. Fellow Ugandans, it’s Horrible. My only prayer is that I get out of this place safely!” Erias Lukwago shared on his social media
“It’s sad that the media house can’t secure their guests. They’ll be held responsible for all the trauma and damage suffered by the Lord Mayor of our Capital City.” Dr. Kizza Besigye said
