The Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo has revealed that Prime Minister Robina Nababanja and the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Eng. Hillary Onek have agreed to work together for the betterment of the country.
The PM and Onek came to terms after a closed-door meeting with the Vice President and other government dignitaries.
“We have had a good meeting and agreed to work together. We have decided to leave certain issues in the past and work for the betterment of our country.” The Vice President revealed after the meeting with the two.
Emphasizing “We have agreed to look ahead and forget the past. We are one,”
The meeting follows a letter from Minister Onek, in which he expressed that PM Nabbanja was suffocating him with her meddling in his duties.
The meeting, chaired by the vice president as an arbiter; was also attended by Gen. Moses Ali, the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, and Lucky Nakyobe the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet.
In the letter, Onek said that ever since the PM was appointed, she has been calling for meetings, going to disaster- affected places and visiting refugee settlements without informing either his office or that of his deputy.
