The territorial Police at Katwe on Wednesday arrested 58 thugs on allegations of carrying out aggravated robberies targeting residential houses and people in areas of Salaam, Masajja, Mutundwe and Bunamwaya.
Police carried out the operation following the public outcry of residents in Kasingani area located in Masajja A Zone, Masajja Parish in Masajja Division.
Luke Oweyesigyire the Deputy Police spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan area revealed police was able to recover implements the thugs use during the robberies.
“During the operation, the police was able to recover narcotics substances, pangas, house breaking implements and gloves they are used to cover fingerprints during the robberies.” He said
He further revealed that the suspects are currently detained at Katwe Division and will be processed and arraigned in courts of law.
