The Territorial Police in KMP East and Mukono is on a serious manhunt for a group of 5 thugs, who attacked three students and two local guards at St. John S.S., Kyawambago village, Nakisunga Sub-county in Mukono district.

The preliminary findings indicate that the thugs entered the school premises armed with pangas on March 27, at around 2am, rounded up and tied up five people including 3 students of the school in S.2, S.4. and S.6 and two watchmen.
According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, the two watchmen were killed instantly.
“The body of Patrick Kanyole, 58 year old local guard was found near the school play ground with sisal rope that had tightly gripped his neck, both hands tied and a deep cut on his forehead. The body of his colleague, Fred Hyuha, was found inside the sentry box with a deep cut on his head and abrasions around the neck area, showing signs of strangulation.”Enanga revealed
After excising torture and murder, the thugs broke into the offices of the Headteacher and Bursar.
Police says an unspecified amount of items were stolen including money.
“They also dismantled and stole the school DVR for the CCTV camera. Exhibits of evidential value were recovered from the scene.” Enanga Added
Providing a safe learning environment is of paramount importance to education providers. Police has further encouraged all schools to ensure the safety of students, the staff and the security of the school infrastructure citing that the use of CCTV cameras, access controls, armed security guards, intruder alarms and raised wall perimeters contributes to the overall safety of the school.
