Students in the Kampala Metropolitan area have on Monday 10th reported back to school as they had been earlier instructed by President Museveni during his 2021 end of year state of the Nation Address.

Students in company of their parents started reporting as early as 6am in order to beat traffic jam. The responsibility of taking students back has taken parents more than three hours to resume their businesses.

At some of the schools ugabuzz managed to reach to during press time, students and parents had masks on and were trying to keep Social distance. However, there was no sanitizer on the respective teacher’s and administrator’s desks who were checking in the students.

Parents were very few in Kiyembe, a reknown place in Kampala City popular for retailing School Uniforms, Sports wear, sweaters and socks. This was unlike the previous week after the school reopening announcement as parents flooded the place from 7: am to 8:pm. Parents however started showing up in numbers at around midday.

It Should also be noted that after the presidential announcement, the prices for uniform materials were risen due to much demand for the products.
Sweaters that used to cost shs 13000/= now cost shs 15000/= each. Those that used to cost shs 15000/= are now at shs 18000/= to shs 20,000/=. The extra large sweaters cost shs 25,000/=.
Shorts that used to cost shs 6000/=, 7000/= and 8000/= now cost shs shs 8000/=, 10,000/= and 12000/=.
Stockings that uses to cost shs. 5000/= a pair now cost shs. 8000/= while T-shirts remained at the same price.
