The Police at Lubowa have today arrested two suspects who are believed to be involved in vehicle number plates theft in areas of Lubowa, Zzana, Bunamwaya, Katale, Bukwenda, Seguku and Nalumunye.

The suspects identified as Natamba Brian and Katushabe Saul were arrested from areas of Seguku and Namasuba after the victims made complaints to police from the affected communities.
According to Deputy police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan area, ASP Luke Oweyesigyire, the police tracked down the suspects using the new technology acquired to fight crime.
“After plucking off the car licence plates, the suspects would leave their mobile phone contacts on the vandalised car, which the victims were expected to call for details about the whereabouts of their moto vehicle plates. When the victims call the suspects’ mobile phone number, the receiver tells them to send them money first before they reveal to them where they hid the licence plates.” He revealed
He added that after their arrest, the suspects led the police to where they had hid the licence plates and police managed to recover atleast forty six license plates and verification of the owners of the plates is ongoing.
Luke also said the suspects were already listed in police crime database as they had been arrested before over a similar offence.
“They will be arraigned in courts of law again as soon as investigations are done,” Luke said
Those who lost their licence plates are urged to visit Lubowa police to identify their licence plates
