Ivan Kaahwa, the UBC TV journalist believed to have shared a video in which Prime Minister of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja ran out of words during a media address at her offices in Kampala has been fired.
In the video that made rounds on social media, the PM tells the journalists that she is out of words “ebyokwogera bimbuze” while swinging in her chair. She almost falls while trying to lean against her swinging chair.
It is alleged that Ivan got suspended on the orders of the Prime Minister who threatened to take criminal charges against the entire media crew that was at her office on Thursday.
UBC TV, through a press statement on Friday said they have asked Uganda Communications Commission to investigate the matter and find the right source of the video for it has tarnished their image.
“We have learnt with concern a video circulating on social media where Rt Hon Prime Minister was addressing the media in a press conference on cabinet decisions. The unfortunate video that has since gone viral is being attributed to our reporter who was assigned to this particular presser
“Management has taken this matter seriously and has reached out to Uganda Communications Commission to help in the investigation and ascertain the exact source of this rather regrettable video,” UBC said
