In a bid to promote and preserve the Islamic teachings in Uganda, the cultural consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kampala has organised the first annual competition on pilgrimage in Kololo ahead of the celebrations of Eid Ai-Adhuha.

The competition that had students, Journalists and religious leaders’ participation was purposely organized to make the philosophy of Hajj, It’s importance and impact on unity and development known.
During his speech at the event, Mohammad Reza Ghezelsofla, the Cultural Chancellor of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in Uganda urged Muslims to perform hajji as it purifies the performer.
“According to the meaning of Hajj is determination, will, movement, promising, migration among others. Hajji involves movement as the water that moves is always fresh and clean. It is also a worship that coordinates with others for solidarity and brotherhood.” He said
Ghezelsofla added that pilgrimage brings about awareness among the participants and people change for the better.
“Hajj is the source of change to humanity as the Almighty Allah never changes the condition of the people until they take the first initiative.
He further advised Muslims to emulate the relevance of sacrifice by offering the best as Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) did.
Winners were awarded with cash prizes by the Cultural Consular.
