“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.”- Albert Einstein
If anyone ever wants to immerse themselves in a country and really get to know a local community, volunteering with a charity or nongovernmental organisation (NGO) in Uganda is a great place to start.

Even in the midst of the ravaging and sorrowful post-Covid 19 days, youths in charitable organizations have played an important role in ensuring that children smile.
We got hold of the young lads and lasses of a junior organization, Human At Heart.
With a long-term goal of ensuring that every child, regardless of their life circumstances or unfortunate background, is able to live a more sustainable life; Human at Heart is a grassroot youth-led non-profit organization setting out to help orphans and vulnerable children in the society. They started this non-profit in 2020, after seeing first-hand what underprivileged children in our society go through.
Every year, they intend to accomplish their charity drives through assisting orphanages, slum areas, and families in caring for their children.

Last year, they launched a project to help Hope For Katanga Kids Project, an orphanage in Katanga, Wandegeya, Kampala district, recover from the COVID19 pandemic. The team provided food, school supplies, paid for one of the children’s fees, beddings, and household supplies to help them get by for a while. Special thanks go to GirlUp Makerere and the Makerere Engineering Society that partnered with Human At Heart to see to it that every Katanga child smiles.
This year, these ladies and gentlemen will continue to make a difference in the lives of our children by holding an outreach at the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation in Mulago.
